R & D
Since the early 90’s Arrow have continually invested in their R&D capabilities. The experience gained in the manufacture of over 2000 Connecting Rod types, 300 Cam follower types etc is unquestionable. To back up this practical knowledge we have invested heavily in the following software packages.

Alpha CAM
We currently have 3 seats using this manufacturing package. An in house written connecting rod macro reduces set up time on the CNC machine operations. Arrow therefore can offer an improvement on quality, productivity and efficiency whilst at the same time reducing wastage. Customers can send CAD drawings or models in any format, which can then be imported into our systems.

Solid Works
We have recently acquired 3 seats of this world leading 3D mechanical design software, giving our design department the following improvements:

1. Improved communication around the company and to suppliers/customers.
2. Faster, more accurate 2D drawing generation.
3. Faster design change.
4. Improved product visualisation.
5. Mass properties, C of G, moments of inertia.
6. Stress analysis.
7. Improved ability for taking and designing around customers data.
8. SolidWorks is an industry standard.We have developed software in the C# programming language to integrate SolidWorks, AlphaCAM and our CMM software, with our connecting rod database, giving one point of data entry for our generic designs.

Connecting Rod Design
Our Standard H Section design is over engineered for most application. We do have several other designs for more radical requirements. The following data allows our engineers to select the correct design:

Piston Mass
RPM
HP
Stroke
Turbo Application
Normally Aspirated
High Endurance
Sprint Application
Clearance
Nitrous Oxide

These calculations are all part of the service. If a custom Connecting rod is required a full drawing will be sent to the customer, the quotation is inclusive of the drawing.R&D ChargesWe can design, draw up and complete stress calculations for various engine components.


X Rated.
In 2005 we completed a design that was used in a modified Impreza developing over 800bhp. It broke a world record – running a 9. 93-second quarter mile at 143mph at a drag event. The X rated design is now available for any customer with extreme requirements.
